Jay Soul - Keep Keep On
Jay Soul is back and if you’ve haven’t heard of him you have now. In his first dance track we get a chance to see a different side of Jay Soul conveyed through the pace and visuals for his music video for ‘Keep Keep On’.
The theme was a 90s dance video combined with imagery that reflects how people viewed the future in the late 80s/early 90s so naturally it would entail lasers and UV paint.
This was new territory in the creation of UV silhouettes and 3D facial scans which required a lot of research and testing. Fortunately it paid off creating an end product that was better than we could have anticipated.
Jay Soul wanted to “move” in his new video and move he did. Showing off his smooth dance moves with his ten member strong dance crew gave the video a sense of showmanship and energy that lifted the video.
Those same moments of high energy were contrasted with more sombre shots of reflectiveness in one set up and stoicism in another creating an emotional range that reflects the songs drama.
Jay Soul was extremely adventurous for this video; whatever ideas we had his answer was “Yes, let’s find a way to do that” which was very refreshing for a Director.
On the day, ready when we needed him to be and took direction with the comprehension and professionalism of a trained actor.
The statues weren’t half bad either.
Looking forward to the next one Jerome - I mean Jay.
