Dollface - Back on the Radio
If you like fun pop-rock and a bit of comedy then you’ll love Dollface and their newest single ‘Back on the Radio’! Join the boys in a journey through time as they show their musical skills in three key decades; the 50s, 70s and present day.
What started as an X Factor type video developed into a battle of the bands depicting what Dollface would have been like in different eras. It was important that the boys dressed and performed as if they were really in those times. 50s – good clean cut boys with sport coats, 70s – sexed up rockers with long hair, present day? Well, that’s just Dollface being Dollface. Not only did they dress and perform in the time period but we also filmed each era in the style of its time: long static shots for the 50s, handheld roving camera for the 70s and cool tracking for the modern day.
The boys were up for anything; dress like a long haired rocker? Sure! Eat a marmalade and ketchup sandwich? Okay! Dress like a schoolgirl? Wait, I didn’t ask them to do that. An added visual bonus came from the band performing ALL of the roles; school kids, test subjects, celebs and judges. It became something we really ran with and allowed each person to inhabit a different character while keeping the viewer engaged with the band.
Combining comedy and music is very ambitious but I think we pulled it off.
